Hello Gourmet Foodie fans,
My wife has been long asking me to take her out for some greasy and fattening burgers and fries. Since she has turned to vegetarianism and became non-alcoholic again, I didn't really know any good places for meatless burgers. If anyone has recommendations, please feel free to post it here. I decided to treat her to some delicious meatless burgers since we were celebrating her birthday week as well.
Last Saturday, as I had decided to go ahead with the plan, the same afternoon our good friends Simran and Rahul called to inquire about our evening plan. Immediately, they were a part of the burger dinner plan as well and beer flowed which complemented my burgers well. Here is my recipe for quick burgers at home.
Ingredients (Serves 4)
4 nos. Meatless (meat for our meat lovers) burger patty
4 nos. burger buns
8 cheddar cheese slices
1 & 1/2 cup special Homemade BBQ hot sauce
2 Peppers (Red & yellow)
200 gm mushrooms
Salt & black pepper to taste
Method
1) Pre heat the oven to 450 F and get it ready to cook the patty. Cook for about 20 mins for the meatless patty and about 30 mins for the meat patty. (Turn it once after 10 mins for the meatless and 15 mins for the meat respectively)
2) Prepare Homemade sauce - Saute 2 medium chopped onions, ginger garlic paste for about 5 mins. Add 3 tsp red chilli powder (adjust basis hotness required), 1/2 cup ketchup, 1/2 cup BBQ sauce and allow it to cook for 10 mins. Keep covered as the sauce boils. Add salt and black pepper as per taste. Add a little water, only if required to adjust consistency (but avoid it if possible).
3) Saute chopped mushrooms and peppers separately with two spoons of the homemade prepared sauce.
4) Building our burger. Always use the patty first as it gives a stable layer for the other toppings. You can also start with a bed of lettuce. Add a cheese slice post the patty, followed by peppers, cheese slice again and finally mushrooms. You could add a spoon of sauce if you like burger to be more juicy or have it as an accompaniment.
5) McCain fries can be simultaneously baked while the patty is cooking in the oven as it serves as an excellent accompaniment.
6) Don't forget to wash down the burgers with cold beer or a can of Coke / ginger ale.
